Two killed, one injured in East-West Highway accidents
BHOJPUR: A pedestrian died after a vehicle hit him in Damak Municipality-1 along the East-West Highway in Jhapa district on Tuesday.
According to police, the Tata sumo vehicle (Ba 11 cha 6267) heading towards east hit Bir Bahadur Tamang (68) of Damak Municipality-12, at around 6: 30 pm.
Critically injured Tamang breathed his last on the way to the Lifeline Hospital, police said.
Likewise, a motorcyclist was critically injured when the motorcycle he was riding on collided head-on with a four wheeler at Maidhar Chok along the highway in Shivasataksi Municipality-9 of Jhapa district on Tuesday.
The motorcycle (Me 4 Pa 4868) collided head-on with an Armed Police Force (APF) vehicle (Ba 1 Jha 7165) heading towards west at around 6:00 pm, police said.
The injured have been identified as Mukesh Yadav (24) of Charpane-4 in Jhapa district.
The motorcycle went out of control before it collided with the four wheeler vehicle, informed police.
Subsequently, the APF vehicle transferred the critically injured Yadav to the Birtamod-based BNC Hospital for the treatment.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle has been impounded by the Maidhar-based temporary police post.
Similarly, a pedestrian was killed when a motorcycle hit him at Bhulwai Chok in Siraha Municipality of Siraha district, at around 7:00 pm on Tuesday.
Police said, an On Test Suzuki motorcycle (blue colour) heading from Siraha to Choharwa hit a pedestrian and inflicted serious injuries.
The critically injured identified as Ram Prasad Sah (65) of Siraha Municipality-11 died during the course of treatment at District hospital, Siraha on Wednesday morning, said police.
Meanwhile, police have undertaken the investigation into the case and search is on for the motorcycle and the motorcyclist who fled the scene immediately, after the incident.
