Two killed as picnickers' jeep turns turtle in Pokhara

POKHARA: Two persons died and 12 others sustained injuries when a jeep carrying picnickers turned turtle in Dobhilla, Pokhara-17 of Kaski district on Saturday afternoon.

The four-wheeler (Ga 1 Cha 4589) was heading towards Pokhara from Bharatpokhari after a picnic when it met with the accident at around 1:30 pm today.

The victims have been identified as 14-year-old Lisa Mahitra from India, currently residing in Mahendrapul of the Lake City and 20-year-old Arbinda Chaudhary from Dudhiya-6 of Rautahat district, currently residing in Naya Bazaar of Pokhara.

Total 15 persons were aboard the ill-fated vehicle, according to DSP Gajusiddhi Bajracharya, spokesperson at the Kaski District Police Office.

Meanwhile, police detained the driver Bhola Bharati for further investigations.

The injured are undergoing treatment at local Phewa City Hospital and Namaste Hospital.

Police attributed the accident to the over speed.
