KATHMANDU, MAY 30

Two people were killed and three others injured after a jeep met with an accident along the Mid-Hill Highway at Thapamod in Panchadewal Binayak Municipality-4 of Achham district last night.

The jeep (BAP 01-027 CH 2277), travelling from Darchula to Jumla, plunged around 200 metres off the road, according to police.

District Police Office Achham chief DSP Om Prakash Khanal said 41-year-old Navin Tuladhar of Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City, Makwanpur, and 45-year-old Ram Prakash Tharu of Bansgadhi Municipality-5, Bardiya, died while undergoing treatment at the Provincial Hospital in Surkhet.

The injured have been identified as Sant Kumar Sah, 27, of Kalyanpur Municipality-10, Siraha; Arjun Kumar Paudel of Fedikhola Rural Municipality-4, Syangja; and driver Raj Rajendra Bhimraj Chatta Gupta, 28, of Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan City-5.

Police deployed from Belkhet rescued the injured and took them to Rakam Karnali Primary Hospital in Dailekh before they were referred to Surkhet for further treatment.
