Kavre, January 16:

The locals of Bikramtar at Baluwa VDC- 3 in Kavre this morning held two Maoists on charges of manhandling locals. However, they were released after six hours.

Bishnu Mijar and Raj Kumar Shrestha were held by the locals for beating up Sundar Danuwar and Toran Bahadur Danuwar after the two refused to let the Maoists stay in their houses on Friday night.

The Maoists were released in the presence of human rights activists and mediapersons after they (Maoists) begged pardon.

The locals alleged that the Maoists were collecting rice, maize and donations until a few days ago.

Panchkhal area in-charge of the Maoists Gopal Ghimire, who came to Bikramtar with three cadres after the news broke that the Maoist cadres were detained by the locals, said: “We will not trouble locals.”
