Two pedestrians killed as LPG bullet truck overturns in Dhading
DHADING: A woman and her daughter lost their lives after a truck hauling liquid petroleum gas hit them before overturning at Bishaltar along the Prithvi Highway in Dhading.
The truck (UP 75 AJ 5208) en route to Kathmandu from Raxaul caught fire after falling 20 metres below the highway prompting authorities to initiate emergency measures.
Thirty-five-year-old Gita Nepali, a ward member of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality and her daughter Sunita Nepali were killed in the incident, District Police Office, Dhading informed.
According to police, Gita died on the spot while her daughter breathed her last en route to a hospital.
The mother-daughter duo were on their way to Chandrodaya Secondary School to fill up Grade 11 registration form when the truck hit them.
Following the incident, police have detained truck driver, Bhola Kumar (26) of India.
Moreover, authorities deployed firefighters and personnel from Nepal Police and Armed Police Force at the incident site to avert major fire, DPO, Dhading informed.
