GAIGHAT, UDAYAPUR: The District Court, Udayapur has convicted a youth to 12 years in prison on the charge of raping a minor.

A single bench of District Court judge Tirtha Raj KC found 19-year-old Hem Bahadur Karki, of Motigada, Triyuga Municipality-3, guilty of raping a five-year-old girl and ordered him imprisoned for 12 years. The court also fined him Rs 50,000.

The victim's parents had lodged a complaint against Karki at the District Police Office in September last year. He was arrested after the complaint against him was received.

Likewise, the District Court, on Monday, convicted 62-year-old Sudhilal Chaudhary on rape charge and ordered him seven years imprisonment along with Rs 30,000 fine.
