RAUTAHAT, NOVEMBER 1
A two-way competition is expected in Constituency No 4 of Rautahat for election to the House of Representatives scheduled for November 20.
Nepali Congress' Dev Prasad Timalsina and CPN-UML's Uddaw Regmi have filed their candidacies for the HoR seat from Rautahat-4.
Timalsina is reputed as hardworking, committed and pro-development leader in the constituency. Likewise, UML's Regmi has built his base amongst voters.
In the last 30 years, no representative has been re-elected from this constituency. In the first election after restoration of democracy, Banshidhar Mishra of the CPN-UML was elected to the HoR. In the midterm election three years later, NC's Uddaw Dhakal was elected defeating UML's Mishra.
In the last parliamentary election, NC's Dev Prakash Timilsina was elected defeating UML's Banshidhar Mishra.
For the November 20 polls, luck seems to be building up in favour of Timilsina as CPN-Maoist Centre and CPN (Unified Socialists) have also thrown their weight behind him. A local Suman Kari said Timalsina was very likely to win the polls due to his development-friendly attitude and his rapport with the grassroots.
