Two youths held on charges of attempted murder

TANAHUN: Police have arrested two youths for attempting to murder a woman and her daughter on Thursday at Byas Municipality in Tanahun district.

According to the police, 17-year-old Ujwal Sunar of Bhumi Municipality in Rukum and 21-year-old Sudip Adhikari of Byas Municipality-4 were nabbed as they tried to flee after attempting murder of 44-year-old Julekha Miya and her minor daughter.

The accused holding camp knives came running towards the mother and daughter who then ran for their lives crying for help, police said.

Following the incident, a police team chased fleeing Sunar and Adhikari before arresting them from Amarapuri and Talghare, respectively.

It has been learnt that the accused duo had taken Rs 20,000 from Miya’s husband, Aman Tul Khan, a 69-year-old Pakistani national who had coerced Miya to migrate to Pakistan. Khan resorted to hiring Sunar and Adhikari to murder Miya and her daughter after she refused to migrate to Pakistan with him.

A case of attempt to murder has been registered against the accused at the District Court, Tanahun and further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
