UCPN-M discusses state restructuring
KATHMANDU: UCPN-M standing committee member Dev Gurung tabled a concept paper on state restructuring at the central committee meeting of the party, today. Earlier at the meeting, in-charges of 13 different state committees had reported on their activities.
Indra Mohan Sigdel, in charge of foreign bureau, Barsha Man Pun 'Ananta' of PLA bureau had also reported on the activities of their respective sectors. According to Shakti Basnet,a CC member, chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' is scheduled to address the meeting tomorrow. The meeting will discuss Gurung's concept paper on state restructuring. Preparation for the upcoming national convention, changes in the number of politburo and central committee members are also in the agenda.
Currently the party has 136 CC members and 45 politburo members. The number of the CC members could be increased to 175. Similarly the politburo members could be around 55.
The meeting also assessed that the move to allow the opening of the House for passage of the budget could be termed as unilateral cease-fire on their part. "This move of opening the House to pass budget will create an extreme pressure on the government to fulfil our demand of civilian supremacy," said Tanka Mani Sharma, a CC member.
Dharma Chandra Lawoti of Limbuwan, Gopal Kiranti of Kirant, Haribol Gajurel of Kochila, Biswo Nath Sah of Mithila, Bhim Prasad Gautam of Bhojpura, Devendra Poudel of Awadh, Agni Sapkota of Tamsaling, Hitman Shakya of Newa, Uttam of Tamuwan, Hemanta Prakash Oli of Magarat, Prakanda of Bheri-Karnali, Dharmendra Jha of Seti- Mahakali and Haribhakta Kandel of Tharuwan state committees had presented their reports .
