UCPN-M to fill vacant positions
Kathmandu, March 17
Unified CPN-Maoist is preparing to fill vacant positions in its central bodies, including the Central Committee.
The party’s standing committee today discussed the agendas for the upcoming central committee meeting scheduled to begin from Saturday.
According to party secretary Barshaman Pun, today’s meeting discussed filling the 24 vacant central committee positions after senior leader Baburam Bhattarai’s departure from the party and election of Vice-president and Speaker .
Pun said the upcoming CC meeting would also fill the 124-member strong Central Council of the party and 19 members as central advisers.
The ongoing standing committee meeting has been discussing the agendas with special focus on organisational structures, government, assessment of developments in the course of party unity, and management of cadres among others.
“A three-day workshop on the party’s policy on management of cadres will be completed by Friday morning with a proposal for the central committee meeting and then the standing committee of the party will discuss the proposal to be presented in the Central Committee,” Pun said.
During the workshop Vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha had presented a concept paper on party policy for managing cadres.
Pun further said the standing committee on Friday afternoon would finalise the agendas for the central committee meeting.
He also said the party has already turned its state committees into Pradesh committees and the upcoming central committee meeting would expand the committees.
