UCPN-M to announce fifth phase of stir plan today

KATHMANDU: The main opposition Unified CPN-Maoist which has been launching 'national independence movement' finalised the fifth phase of agitation focusing on constitution and peace building processes, today. Details of the agitation would be announced tomorrow when the party concludes its standing committee meeting.

The party would lunch nationwide publicity campaign for the constitution-drafting and peace building process through February 13 to March 6, according to party spokesperson Dinanath Sharma. Sharma said that the party's planned expanded meeting of the central committee scheduled for the third week of February was postponed and they would hold national cadres' meet on February 18 to train its national level cadres.

Sharma, however, maintained that the party would not call any bandh or general strike as the people did not want such action while the constitution drafting was on. The meeting also decided to reshuffle the responsibilities of some leaders and added more responsibilities to some members of the standing committee. The party had also withdrawn its earlier announced indefinite strike after the formation of High-level Political Mechanism.
