KATHMANDU: Cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) manhandled staff of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and torched their vehicle in Sarlahi on Thursday.

A team from the NHRC had reached Sarlahi to monitor the possible incidents of human rights violations in separate programmes of UDMF and Chure Bhawar Party.

The programmes were scheduled at the same location, where the team was assaulted by armed agitators.

According to the team coordinator Nitu Gartaula, the UDMF cadres also torched the vehicle (Ba 7 Cha 7476) that they were travelling on and completely destroyed it.

Indira Dhungana and Bhiwa Dhungana, members of the team, suffered injuries in the assault by the UDMF cadres, who had also had home made weapons.
