RAUTAHAT: Cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) torched a pick-up van in Bhediyahi of Rautahat district on Sunday.

The locals had took the van (Ba 5 Cha 2288) under their control last night and torched it at around 11:20 this morning, SP Rajendra Pokharel of the District Police Office, Gaur informed.

The van was delivering goods of daily use from Gaur to Chandranigahapur as the agitation programmes were minimised for the Dashain festival.

Meanwhile, as many as seven motorcycles have been vandalised by the cadres in different parts of the district. They have also been burning tyres in various parts of the district as a part of the demonstration.

The 70-day long bandh and the demonstrations have severely affected life in the Tarai region.
