UDMF continues protest

The agitating United Democratic Madheshi Front continued its demonstrations and sit-ins in areas bordering India today.
UDMF cadres staged a sit-in at Dasgaja area in front of the Birgunj-Raxual customs office. Many UDMF cadres and leaders, including Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Parsa Chairman Pradip Yadav, Tarai Madhes Democratic central member Janardan Yadav participated in the demonstrations.
Parsa Chairman of Federal Socialist Forum Pradip Nepal warned of disrupting regular activities at the customs office if their demands were not met. The demonstrators had brought vehicular movement to a complete halt.
Likewise, Madheshi Struggle Coordination Committee,Oraiyale, started a relay hunger strike at Manmohan gate of Oraiya VDC bordering India in Rautahat.
CPN-UML local leader Mahendra Thakur said that they would continue with the relay hunger strike until their demands are met. Thakur is leading the strike. Similarly, UDMF cadres blocked the road for half an hour at Gaur’s Bairganiya, which also borders India.
Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party leader Anil Singh warned of shutting the custom point indefinitely from tomorrow. UDMF cadres also gave continuity to sit-ins and demonstration at various border points including Dhanusha’s Jatahi and Mahottari’s Samsi, Matihani and Bhitthamode today.
