UDMF provides financial support to Saptari shooting victims

RAJBIRAJ: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) leaders have provided expenses for carrying out mourning rituals to the families of the five cadres killed in police firing more than a week ago.

The UDMF in Saptari extended Rs 51,000 each to the families as part of the 'Kriya ritual' expenses.

The Front's Saptari District Coordinator, Dinesh Kumar Yadav, among other leaders and cadres visited the houses of the deceased's kin to extend the support, the UDMF said.

A clash had broken out between the UDMF cadres and police when the former tried to disrupt the Mechi-Mahakali National Campaign launched by the second largest party – CPN-UML – more than a week ago.

Sanjan Mahato (25) of Maleth VDC-2, Pitambar Mandal (50) of Maleth-4, Ananda Kumar Saha (35) of Tangeri in Prasabani–4, Birendra Mahato of Maleth–4 and Inardev Yadav (55) of Jamuni Madhepura VDC–1 were killed in the police firing during the clash.
