UML accuses Maoists of rigging election

Sankhuwasabha, April 19:

The CPN-UML Sankhuwasabha district committee today concluded that the April 10 constituent assembly polls were full of irregularities and that the Maoists had managed to win because of the terror unleashed by the pro-Maoist Young Communist League and its threats to the voters.

Issuing a statement after the meeting held at Khandbari, the UML district unit said YCL cadres, camping in parts of the district supposedly for the security of Maoist candidates during the polls, bullied voters into voting for the CPN-Maoist.

The district UML alleged that the polls were a farce because of the Young Communist League presence and terror.

The statement added that the Maoists tried their best to break the morale of the UML and harm it at the local and national levels.

The unit also thanked the voters, saying that they turned out to vote despite threats and risk factors.

Of the two seats in Sankhuwasabha, the UML won one while the CPN-Maoist won the other.
