UML to help govt implement statute

Kathmandu, June 18

Standing Committee meeting of the ruling CPN-UML on Saturday decided to expedite campaign for effective implementation of the constitution and the government’s time-bound action plan to hold three elections.

According to party secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, the meeting discussed ways to create the environment for effective implementation of the constitution and plans and policies the government. He said the party would organise seminars and discussions at the district level on implementing the statute, budget and policy and programmes of the government, besides creating environment for holding the elections.

“The party has decided to play a crucial role in making the government’s time-bound action plan, budget and policies and programmes successful,” Bhattarai said after the meeting.

Another party secretary Prithvi Subba Gurung, who also heads the party’s organisational department, said today’s meeting failed to enter into the agenda of forming Pradesh committees. The organisational department was entrusted with preparing the list of the provincial committees on the basis of criteria presented by party general secretary Ishwor Pokhrel.

However, the organisational department couldn’t even present the proposal at today’s meeting as the issue of government’s policy dominated the meeting.
