Ministers from the CPN-UML serving in the Bagmati Province government have put their resignations on hold, saying they will remain in office until receiving formal instructions from party leadership.
A meeting of the UML Bagmati Provincial Parliamentary Party held in Kathmandu on Monday reviewed the evolving political situation and concluded that no immediate decision would be taken on whether to withdraw from the provincial government.
Parliamentary party leader Jagannath Thapaliya said the party had not decided to leave the government at this stage, despite growing uncertainty. "Political developments are changing daily, so no decision has been made yet on whether to stay in or exit the government," he said.
Thapaliya added that although reports had circulated suggesting UML ministers could tender collective resignations, the party had not received any official directive from the central leadership. Until such instructions are issued, UML ministers will continue performing their responsibilities.
According to Thapaliya, the party's alliance with the Nepali Congress in Bagmati Province remains intact for now. While discussions are ongoing regarding federal-level developments, no concrete decision has been made concerning the provincial government.
The meeting also discussed ministerial restructuring, portfolio allocation and management of ministers without specific responsibilities. Thapaliya said any necessary decisions would be implemented after guidance from the party's higher bodies.
The meeting was attended by UML Secretary Mahesh Basnet, provincial chairman Kailash Dhungel and other party leaders.
