UML will hold large poll rallies: Nepal

Biratnagar, December 28:

CPN-UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal today said that his party would organise huge pre-election rallies while striving for keeping the unity of the seven parties intact.

Speaking at a Morang district-level gathering of his party cadres, Nepal urged party cadres to fan out into each and every locality of the districts in the country and work actively for the party’s success in the coming constituent assembly poll.

Nepal also urged party cadres to react to decisions by the party high command after due study and reflection. “Senior cadres of the party are behaving like loose cannons. This is not correct,” he added. He urged all cadres to behave more responsibly.

He also urged other parties not to obstruct the preparations for the poll after the top leadership of the party name candidates. Working in tandem would preserve the unity of the seven parties, he said.

Nepal also urged the government to formulate concrete programmes for scaling down crime and violence in the Tarai.

Stating that the presence of the special task force in the Tarai had improved the security situation there, Nepal said that the activities of the armed groups there were putting psychological pressure on the Tarai people.

He added that only the CA polls would provide solutions to the country’s problems and urged the Madhesi leaders to cooperate in this regard.
