Unaccounted-for rifle, bullets recovered from Makawanpur forest

HETAUNDA: Police in Makawanpur district on Wednesday found an unaccounted-for rifle and its bullets in a forest of Gadhi Rural Municipality-3 of the district.

A police team under the command of Police Inspector Bed Prasad Gautam found the .303 rifle and 68 rounds of bullets wrapped in a sack, the District Police Office informed.

The police today made public the seized ammunition.

While the local elections are nearing, police have expedited crackdown on the use of arms, according to SP Basanta Kumar Lama of the DPO.

Meanwhile, the DPO has called for the submission of the guns including the licensed ones to the District Administration Office within 15 days considering the elections.

Police are further investigating to ascertain who owned the gun.
