An unannounced power cut in the scorching heat has badly affected life in the rural areas of Bara.

Nepal Electricity Authority, without prior notification, has been cutting power for a long time, sometimes more than 50 times in a day. This has affected life in the Tarai. The problems occurred in Manaharwa, Shreepur, Jaitapur, Bhodaha, Jitkaiya, Maheshpur, Dohari and Majhauliya of the district.

Rabin Parajuli, a local of Jitpursimara sub-metropolis said that they had been facing problems due to power cuts in the scorching heat time and again. He added that local farmers could not irrigate their fields and plant paddy following the same.

The farmers said they could not collect and sell milk due to lack of electricity. Another local Dev Bahadur Magar said that they could not even help the kids with their studies. The services provided by the local organisations and offices have also been affected due to frequent power cuts.

Chairman Chatur Babu Wagle of the sub-metropolis said that the staff could not provide service to service seekers from their offices due to excessive heat. Electronic gadgets have started to go dysfunctional due to power cuts.

Meanwhile, NEA, Kalaiya, distribution Centre Chief Rishi Kumar Barnawal said that the problems occurred due to the old infrastructure and wide transmission areas.
