Unification on the basis of equality: Poudel
Bhairahawa, April 7
CPN-UML Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Poudel today claimed that party unification between the UML and the CPN-Maoist Centre would take place on the basis of mutual respect and equality.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Rupandehi chapter of Press Chautari in Butwal, Poudel held that the two parties had agreed on almost everything except on the election symbol and mention of ‘people’s war’ in the unified party’s statute. “The task force could not finalise the issues. We will reach an agreement after discussions,” Poudel added.
He said agreement might be reached on the election symbol that is established among the people. He, however, did not say anything about mention of ‘people’s war’ in the party statute.
Poudel said preparation was on to announce unification of the two parties on April 23.
