Unite for economic prosperity: Chief Secretary to newly elected representatives

POKHARA: Chief Secretary of Nepal Government Somlal Subedi has urged newly elected people's representatives to join hands for development and economic prosperity at local levels.

Inaugurating an orientation programme that started in Kaski on Tuesday with the aim of providing the representatives with skills and knowledge on governance operation and management at local level, Subedi stressed the need for giving a result but not engaging in selling promises.

He also urged the people's representatives to carry out their duty responsibly within rights given by the law.

Expressing hope that the existing transition would come to an end gradually, he urged the elected representatives to push ahead the development projects that would yield many profits through the mobilisation of limited resources at hand.

Likewise, Auditor General Tanka Mani Sharma underscored the need for the representatives to discharge their duty in a way of giving a sense of good-governance.

A total of 170 newly elected people's representatives including mayor, deputy mayor, ward chairman and vice chairman of a metropolis, 26 municipalities and 58 rural municipalities under Province 4 attended the three-day event.
