‘UDMF has no solution to Madhes crisis’
Dhangadhi, October 25
Chairman of Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum-Democratic Bijay Kumar Gachhadar today said the United Democratic Madhesi Front and its leaders did not have any solution to the Madhes problem.
Speaking at a press meet organised in Dhangadi, Gachhadar held that the Madhesi leaders should sit for talks with the government and other parties to discuss viable alternatives to Madhes problem.
Gachhadar made it clear that the new statute would neither be rewritten nor scrapped as sought by the UDMF and its leaders. He argued that no country in the world had a constitution acceptable to all.
Gachhadar informed that he had offered an alternative to settle the dispute seen in demarcation of new provinces. “It is wrong to say that a district cannot be split while restructuring the country. The dispute has to be resolved even if it takes splitting the districts,” Gachhadar added.
In a different context, he commented that Tikapur carnage was a national tragedy. “But, not all detained in the name of investigation are guilty,” he added. He demanded that the guilty be punished and innocent set free.
Gachhadar said the CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist lawmakers had not consulted his party before registering the impeachment motion against Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Chief Lokman Singh Karki at the Parliament. “We have an indifferent stance on the impeachment motion,” Gachhadar added.
