University teachers to be permanent based on internal competition

KATHMANDU: Purvanchal University teachers and staff working for long time are now to be permanent through internal competition.

The 27th special assembly of the University presided over by its Chancellor and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba took this decision on Thursday.

As the University was unable to announce vacancy for permanent jobs for 17 years, more than 300 staff including the teachers were serving on a temporary basis.

On the occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister Gopal Man Shrestha said the decision to make the staff permanent was taken to solve their problems.

DPM Shrestha underscored that the University should launch the programmes on technical and commercial education so that it would help create human resources needed for the country.
