Unopposed DCC deputy

Biratnagar, August 10

Prakash Kumar Sah of CPN-MC was elected deputy chief of District Coordination Committee of Morang unopposed on Thursday.

After candidacy of Sunil Prasad Dahal of Nepali Congress was repealed, Sah was elected unopposed before Saturday’s election.

Earlier, a total of 17 candidates had filed their candidacy for nine posts. While NC is in the fray alone, CPN-UML, CPN-MC, Federal Socialist Forum and Forum Democratic have formed a coalition to challenge the Congress.

According to sources at the Office of the Returning Officer, the candidacy was repealed as Nepali Congress had filed both male candidates for the post of chief and deputy chief in violation of the mandatory provision that one of such candidate should be a woman. While the coalition has 21 votes, NC has 13.
