Unrest can abort polls: Deuba
Ilam, January 30:
Former Prime Minister and senior leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba today said that the CA polls could not be held on time if agitations in the name of region and ethnicity continue.
Addressing a mass meet organised by the Ilam chapter of NC here, he said that the nation and democracy will face a crisis if the polls could not be held on April 10.
He laid emphasis on the unity of all the supporters of democracy to hold the polls on time in a peaceful manner.
Saying that the main goal of the government and the parties is to make the CA polls a success, NC acting president Sushil Koirala said that government should do everything to make the polls a success.
Stating that the Madhes agitation will be solved holding talks with agitating forces in Terai, he said, “Since have returned to peaceful politics after talks, the government should give an outlet to the Madhes problem through talks.”
Saying that the Maoists have not implemented the agreements reached with the seven party alliance, he said, “They have not stopped asking for donation and have not returned the
seized land and property.
If they do not return the seized land and property, the government has to use force against them.”
Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Narendra Bikram Nembang said that the polls will solve all ethnic and regional issues.
NC central member Chakra Prasad Banstola urged all the agitating forces to adopt restraint till the CA polls.
