Unrest shuts down govt offices

RAJBIRAJ: Cadres of different political parties padlocked all the government offices in Rajbiraj on Friday demanding the withdrawal of the case of kidnapping filed against three students who had beaten Devidutta Shah, chief of Bindeshwor Multiple Campus some days ago.

Police had detained president of Free Student Union Ramchandra Yadav, Secretary Jayaprakash Yadav and member Santosh Yadav on June 8 on the charge of beating the campus chief. They were released in parole on Thursday.

Activists affiliated to various political parties had closed all the government offices

of the district headquarters

after they clashed with the

police while trying to shut

the District Administration Office yesterday.

demanded probe into the irregularities in the campus and take action against the persons involved.

The struggle committee also demanded to take action against campus chief Shah, Chief District Officer Rambilas Raya and SP Bhupal Kumar Bhandari and compensation and free treatment to the people injured in yesterday’s clash with the police.

The padlocked offices in the district are Land Revenue, Forest, Land Survey, Nepal Electricity Authority, Nepal Telecom, District Development Committee, District Education Office, District Livestock Office, District Health Office and District Post Office among others.
