Upadhaya in custody: CDO

The Myagdi district administration has admitted Bhesh Nath Upadhaya (Gautam), who disappeared from Kaski district prison five days ago, is in its custody. Myagdi chief district officer, Gyan Prasad Bhattarai, told this daily today that Upadhaya was in the custody of the district police office. Talking over the telephone, Bhattarai said, “Upadhaya of Takam was brought to Myagdi by the police today.” Bhattarai, however, expressed ignorance about where Upadhaya had been kept for the last five days. According to Milan Shrestha of the NHRC, Kaski police told the NHRC western regional office yesterday that Upadhaya had been sent to Myagdi under security personnel escort. A source at Bagar ward police office said that Upadhaya was sent from Pokhara to Myagdi in an ambulance on Friday.
