KATHMANDU, JULY 12
The number of deaths has risen to 11 in various landslides that occurred across the Kaski district last night.
Seven members of a family died after being buried under a landslide following continuous rainfall at Tallakot of Puranchaur in Pokhara Metropolitan City-19. According to police, Kul Bahadur Pariyar (47), his mother Laxima (87), wife Mana Kumari (43), and three daughters Radhika, Prashana (19), and Prava (20), and son-in-law Asmit Pariya (25) died in the landslide. The entire family was together when the landslide buried their house at 10:30 PM last night.
Two people had gone missing in the incident; however, they were successfully rescued later, according to police.
Likewise, two persons also died in a landslide that occurred at Chainpur in Pokhara-19. According to police, Anita Ojha (18) and Pratik Subedi (9) died after being buried under the landslide while inside their house. The 11-year-old Anuska Ojha had gone missing in the incident, police added. Anuska's body was recovered from under the debris on Friday morning.
Meanwhile, 80-year-old Maitikumari Gurung, who had gone missing in a landslide that occurred at Madi Rural Municipality-11, was found dead, leading the number of deaths in various landslides across the Kaski district to 11. Om Bahadur Gurung was safely rescued by the security authorities from the same landslide, police informed.
The bodies of the deceased have been sent to Western Regional Hospital under Pokhara Academy of Health Science for postmortem, according to the police.
