Updated: 15 killed, 50 injured in Sindupalchowk bus plunge; 3 missing
DOLAKHA: At least 15 persons lost their lives including a three-month-old infant and 50 sustained injuries after a bus they were travelling in plunged into Sunkoshi river in Chautara Sangachowkgadi Municipality-10 of Sindupalchowk district, on Sunday. Three persons are reported missing in the river.
The bus (Ba 2 Kha 7245) was heading to Kathmandu form Magadeurali of Sailung Rural Municipality-3 in Dolakha district before the incident, police said.
The District Police Office, Sindupalchowk, identified the deceased as Ratna Kumari Raut, 51, three-month-old infant Sisan Shrestha, both hailing from Sailung Rural Municipality-3, Ranjita KC, 24, of Lakuridanda in Bhimeshwor Municipality-9, Chameli Shrestha, 27, of Tripura Sundari Rural Municipality-4 and her six-year-old daughter Saira.
However, police are yet to ascertain the identities of other victims, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Madhav Prasad Kafle, said.
Police also rescued 50 injured persons and took them to Dhulikhel Hospital in Kavre for treatment, today. Among the injured persons, six are said to be in critical condition, DSP Kafle shared.
Meanwhile, a search operation is underway for the missing persons.
