Locals warn of agitation

Dolakha, March 15

Upper Tamakoshi Stocks Concerns Joint Struggle Committee has threatened to resort to agitation unless their demands are met soon.

The committee, holding a press conference here today, said that it would launch agitation unless its demands were fulfilled in five days.

Earlier, the committee had submitted a seven-point demand related to the distribution of stocks of the hydropower plant to the chief district officer with a 10-day deadline for fulfilment of their demands.

“This is the second time we’ve served an ultimatum. There will be no option to agitation if our demands are not met by the deadline,” said Barma Lama, a Nepali Congress leader and coordinator of the struggle committee.

The hydropower project is preparing to issue stocks to Dolakha folks soon following permission from the Securities Board of Nepal. The project has allocated 10 per cent stock to district residents.
