US aid to curb trafficking

Kathmandu, April 18:

The US Department of State’s Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons has announced a grant of $672,610 to three Nepali organisations working to combat human trafficking.

A press release issued by the American Centre here said Save the Children and Maiti Nepal will receive $197,750 grant in a year to expand community-based anti-trafficking strategies through awareness.

The Daywalka Foundation will get $465,360 to improve management and prosecution of trafficking cases. Nepal Institute of Development Studies is to receive a $9,500 for data collection on the nexus between trafficking and foreign employment.
