KATHMANDU: The United States Senate on Wednesday confirmed Alaina B Teplitz to be the next US Ambassador to Nepal. Teplitz will replace Ambassador Peter W Bodde.

In her testimony to the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in June, she had outlined her goals as 'to strengthen Nepal’s democracy, advance its economic growth', according to a statement released by the US Embassy in Kathmandu.

She had emphasised the United States’ commitment to work with the government and people of Nepal to build a better Nepal in the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake.

Teplitz recently served as the Director of the Office of Management Policy, Rightsizing, and Innovation at the US Department of State.
