Use of election symbol prints banned
Kathmandu, October 22
The Election Commission today prohibited production, distribution and use of caps, T-shirts, bags and shawls with election symbols printed on them. Tattoo display of election symbols is also prohibited.
Issuing letters to chief returning officers, returning officers, chief district officers, regional and district election officers of 77 districts, the EC directed them to prohibit production, distribution, sale and use of such materials. The EC said use of such materials during campaigning would violate the election code of conduct.
A press release said the EC issued directives to government officers after receiving information that attempts were being made to produce and distribute those materials.
All officials concerned were directed to seize such materials and take action against those producing, distributing or using materials with election symbols printed on them during campaigning.
