VDC secretaries asked to stay at workstations

KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development on Sunday directed the VDC secretaries of the 14 districts highly affected by the earthquake to limit themselves to their respective workstations.

The directive had to be issued after the Village Development Committee secretaries were found to have been providing their service by setting up liaison offices in the district headquarters even though they were required to be back in the VDC offices to help speed up the reconstruction work, Minister Hitraj Pandey said.

The directive has been sent through the concerned District Development Committees.

The absence of VDC secretaries from the workstations was also pointed out by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Similarly, secretaries of other VDCs too have been directed to continue their service from their respective VDC offices.
