Vehicles overcharging passengers
Okhaldhunga, October 15
Transport workers in Okhaldhunga district have reportedly been overcharging passengers heading for Kathmandu after Dashain celebrations.
Locals complained that both short and long-route jeeps and buses have been carrying passengers beyond their capacity and charging three times more than the normal fare.
They have accused the authorities of turning a blind eye even as public vehicles were fleecing passengers.
A passenger heading for Okhaldhunga from Rumjatar said that the concerned authority remained apathetic although the common people had been dealing with the problem from the beginning of the festivals. He said passengers had been compelled to pay higher fares as they did not have any other options.
Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police Milan KC at District Police Office, Okhaldhunga said police had taken the matter seriously. He informed that they had started taking action against vehicles and transport workers found overcharging.
