Vice-President sad with parties for recent misunderstandings

CHITWAN: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun on Tuesday commented that recent misunderstandings among major political parties was sad as they should have stayed united to conduct elections.

Addressing the inaugural of 22nd national annual general meeting of the NGO Federation Nepal in Chitwan today, the Vice-President said there was no alternative to implementing the Constitution by conducting elections at local, provincial and federal levels on time.

Pun, therefore, urged political parties to iron out differences through talks and consensus.

"We should solve our problems by ourselves," he said.

Meanwhile, stressing the need to consolidate national unity and independence further, the leader said the national unity could not be stronger as long as some communities felt oppressed and neglected by the state.

Pun was of the view that NGOs and civil campaigners had a significant role in establishing democratic republicanism in the nation.

He, however, maintained that the NGOs should effectively address complaints from public that they were just wasting money for nothing.

He told the NGOs to make people more self-dependent and promote proper utilisation of local resources.
