Villagers obstruct Paudi-Harrabot road section

Lamjung, May 11:

Locals of Paudi and Harrabot in Lamjung district today obstructed a road section at Paudi area for an indefinite period.

They were protesting against alleged Maoist act of obstructing the construction of a bridge over Marsyangdi river at Paudi-Harrabot road section in Lamjung district.

Krishna Man Shrestha, a local at Tarkughat said: “On May 4 an agreement was reached to start the construction of the bridge from May 5. However, the Maoists threatened the contractors not to start the construction works. They also said they would torch machines if the construction is started.”

One Maoist cadre Gautam Gurung also took under control supervisor of the bridge construction Ramesh Bhandari, locals said. Maoist Lamjung in-charge Dhrishna Dhital said: “The Maoists have not obstructed the bridge construction. The disruption is against the party statute.”

It is said that the Maoists have demanded construction of a bridge at Harrabot.
