Violence not acceptable, says minister

Kavre, July 20

Information and Communications Minister Gokul Prasad Baskota has said violence in any form will not be accepted in the land of Lord Buddha.

“Nepal is the land of Lord Buddha, who taught the world the value of peace. So there is no way we can tolerate violence in this holy land,” said the minister. He was addressing the 40th general assembly of Kavre Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in Banepa, today.

“We are also a democracy that always encourages politics of ideas, so I ask the leader of Communist Party of Nepal, Netra Bikram Chand, who has chosen the path of violence to join mainstream politics,” he said.

The minister reminded industrialists and entrepreneurs to frequently hold dialogues with the government regarding their concerns.

“It is sad that at times entrepreneurs and industrialists resort to street protests to voice their concerns instead of holding talks with the government regarding their pressing issues,” he said, adding that all kinds of issues could be resolved through dialogues.
