Violence perpetrators absconding
RAUTAHAT: A woman, Sohagawati Devi who was tortured on the allegation of witchcraft and tortured for the same in Judibela VDC-7, regretted of no justice even after five months of the incident. "The police administration and NGOs were of no help to her," she said.
Charging her of witchcraft, "Bhagalu Chaudhari, Kanan Chaudhari, Akalu Chaudhari, Baran Chaudhari and Dulriya Devi from her neighbourhood, had beaten her up and forced her to eat human excreta on April 1," she added. The next day, she had filed her case with the Police demanding action against the perpetrators. She, however, accused the Police of releasing the offenders, when the later bribed the former.
The District Police Office shamelessly, suggested her to approach the District Administration Office, Rautahat. Ironically, much to her disappointment, "the culprits were again released on parole," she complained. She further complained of DAO turning deaf ear, so did the CDO, Kamleshwor Kumar Sinha, to her pleas. Sinha, however, doesn't fail to pay lip service to her, she added.
Likewise, "An NGO, ICDC which she has entrusted to, has brought no hope too," she said. The elder is already tired of visiting places, seeking justice.
Prem Chandra Jha, chairman of Federation of Nepalese Journalists, Rautahat, have demanded stern action against the perpetrators. "Journalists in Rautahat, are pressing the concerned bodies to deliver justice to the victim," the chairman confirmed.
