Vote count results of 316 local levels announced, UML leading

KATHMANDU: Results of counting of votes have been announced in 316 local levels, as counting is underway, informed the Election Commission on Thursday.

Election took place in 334 local levels of 35 districts in Provinces 1, 5 and 7 under the second phase of local level elections held on June 28.

According to the EC, counting of votes has been completed in 28 districts so far while the counting is underway in 18 remaining local levels of seven districts.

Results till now show that CPN-UML has been leading the election winning 141 local levels closely followed by Nepali Congress, which has won 117 local levels. CPN Maoist Centre lies behind them winning 37 local levels. Similarly, Federal Socialist Forum, Nepal Loktantrik Forum, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Rastriya Janamorcha have won seven, six, four and two local levels respectively.

Meanwhile, an independent candidate has also won in a local level, according to EC.
