Vote counting in 282 local levels over in 24 districts

KATHMANDU: Counting of votes under the second phase local level elections held in Provinces 1, 5 and 7 on June 28 has been so far completed for 282 local levels in 24 out of the 35 districts.

According to the Joint Election Operation Centre at the Election Commission, the final results of the election have been declared in 282 local levels.

The final results of 52 local levels of 11 districts are yet to be determined, the Election Commission stated.

The Counting of votes has been halted at one each local level in Kanchanpur, Udyapur, Sunsari, Morang and Jhapa districts due to the mismatch in the number of votes while the counting is underway in the rest of the local levels.

As in the first phase of local level election, the CPN-UML and Nepali Congress are in competition in terms of the number of local levels that they have won in the second phase local election.

So far, the UML has won in 122 local levels, Nepali Congress in 107 local levels, Maoist Centre in 36 local levels, the Federal Socialist Forum in six local levels, Nepal Democratic Forum in five local levels, Rastriya Prajatantra Party in three local levels, the Rastriya Janamorcha in two local levels and an independent in one.

The second phase local level elections were held in 334 local levels of 35 districts on June 28.
