Voter list to be updated in Khotang

Khotang, July 14

District Election Office, Khotang, is planning to start a 15-day programme to update voter list for the provincial and parliamentary elections in the district.

District Election Officer Dinesh Khatri said his office was set to begin updating the voter list from July 16. The election office is working to finalise the voter list for provincial polls within one-and-a-half months.

Khatri said Nepali citizens not having their names in the voters list would have a chance to register their names with the election office. Voters can also change their address and choose the place of their convenience for casting votes.

Party leaders have urged the election office to launch door-to-door campaign as farmers remain busy in the fields during monsoon. Former lawmaker Durga Jayanti Rai advised the election office to provide the service at villagers’ door steps as they could not visit the headquarters during the peak time for paddy plantation.
