Janakpurdham, March 30

Dhanusha police yesterday night held eight persons, including Chandra Deep Yadav, for their alleged involvement in murdering media entrepreneur Arun Singhaniya five years ago in Janakpur.

Security personnel held Yadav, his wife Kalyani Devi, landlord Shreechandra Ray, among others. Yadav, his wife and Ray have been detained at District Police Office. Their remand for investigation has been extended by two days, whereas five others are under investigation.

Media entrepreneur Singhaniya was murdered on the day of Holi festival in Shiva Chowk, Janakpur, in March 2011. Another murder accused Ram Binod Yadav has been on the run ever since.

According to sources, alleged Chandra Deep also has been charged as the mastermind behind the murder of Nepali Congress activist Rajendra Yadav of Ganeshman Charnath Municipality in January this year.

His wife Kalyani Devi also assisted in perpetrating several crimes, said police.

Investigation into Chandra Deep in on and action has been taken on the charge of arms and ammunition, besides drug smuggling.

Chandra Deep had contested the first CA election from constituency No 6 of Dhanusha from the Bijay Kumar Gachhadar-led Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Democratic. Chandra Deep had been on run after Sadbhawana Party lawmaker Sanjay Kumar Sah was suspended on criminal charge.

Cops intensified the search for Chandra Deep after knowing about his involvement in murdering Nepali Congress leaders Rajendra Yadav and shooting Nasim Rain and Ramsogarath Mandal.

Dhanusha SP Ram Datta Joshi said they have held some persons in the course of investigation and the probe is on.

Of late, Chandra Deep was operating various criminal activities in the Tarai in the name of Janatantrik Party Madhes.

At least nine persons were held for their alignment to the underground outfit earlier.

Meanwhile, former lawmaker and CPN-UML Janakpur Zone In-charge Yog Narayan Yadav has been arrested from Kathmandu on the charge of

involvement in murdering two persons in Sabaila of Dhanusha a year ago.

Ram Prakash Yadav and Ram Sewak Raut were murdered at Sabaila over a dispute while forming the management committee of a local school last year.
