Chitwan, April 30

Krishna Bahadur Kumal, candidate for the post of Ward No 11 chairperson of Bharatpur Sub-Metropolitan City, Chitwan, was injured after being shot today.

Kumal was shot at Bhalaya of Bharatpur Sub-metropolitan city. He has received a bullet on left side of the abdomen. He is being treated at Narayani Community Hospital, Bharatpur.

Police said Kumal was injured after he was hit by a bullet fired by police personnel who were training at the Junior Police Officers’ Academy Bharatpur.

Kumal is a CPN-ML candidate. District Police Office Chief SP Dipak Thapa said Kumal was shot after he reached the firing range. “Kumal, however, is out of danger”, police said.
