DAMAULI: Chairperson of Shukla Gandaki Municipality-8 in Tanahun district, Krishna Prasad Regmi, has been alleged of raping a woman from the same ward.

The woman has filed a complaint against Regmi at Area Police Office, Belchautara, on Thursday, charging him of rape.

Health checkup of the woman was also performed on Thursday itself.

Police Inspector Shrawan Kumar BK confirmed the registration of case against ward chairman and added that investigations would be initiated as per the laws. According to him, Regmi would be held after the court’s order.

Earlier on Monday, the victim had registered a petition at the judicial committee of the municipality but it was later sent to police citing the ambit of municipality’s judicial committee.

However, Regmi has denied the allegation stating that efforts were going on to undermine him by showing faults in his character.
