Ward member shot at his own residence in Dhading

DHADING: Ward member of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-8, Ramji Chepang, was shot at his own residence Wednesday evening.

According to police, Indra Kumar Chepang -- a resident of Kamda, Rapti Municipality-13 in Chitwan district -- shot ward member Chepang in his home at Gothi Bhanjyang using a muzzleloader gun.

Indra Kumar had been on a run after a case was filed against him for attempting to rape two girls belonging to the Chepang community residing in a girls hostel in Kamda, said Area Police Office (APO), Gajuri.

According to the family members of Ramji Chepang, Indra Kumar might have shot him on a personal feud that the ward member had helped police in trying to catch him in connection with the attempt-to-rape case.
