Locals at Diktel Municipality are reeling under acute shortage of drinking water.

“We have been facing a hard time as there is no water in the spouts,” said a local. The locals said that the municipality is facing a great challenge to ensure regular water supply to the locals due to population growth.

Locals also complained that through the concerned authority collected water supply charges from them, it has failed to ensure them regular water supply. A local lamented, “I have submitted an application to the consumer committee for installation of a tap, but in vain.”

It is said that the drinking water project, which had started some 18 years ago in the district, has yet to be completed. The water tank, which was constructed at Thamkhoredanda, has already started to leak.

Meanwhile, Chairman Jaya Prasad Aryal of the committee said the project has not come into operation due to the dispute between locals of Diktel and Nerpa. It has already been 18 years since the drinking water project started, but the locals are still reeling under water crisis.
