We are clean, ex-ministers tell panel

Kathmandu, September 12 :

The High-Level Investigation Commission headed by former Supreme Court Justice Krishna Jung Rayamajhi today interrogated assistant ministers of the erstwhile royal government, Roshan Karki and Rajesh Kaji Shrestha, for their alleged role in killing people and suppressing the Jana Andolan-II.

According to a source at the commission, the ministers claimed that they had no hand in suppressing the people’s movement in April.

While members of the commission Harihar Birahi and Ram Prasad Shrestha interrogated Shrestha, Birahi and another member, Ram Kumar Shrestha, interrogated Karki.

The Mayor of Kirtipur municipality, Dhruba Maharjan and his deputy, Bachhu Ram Shrestha, and inspector Raj Kumar Silwal were also interrogated for their alleged role in the suppression.

According to the spokesperson of the commission, the panel members would visit the districts to investigate incidents where security agencies had suppressed the Jana Andolan.
